A Students Guide to Spring Break
Author: Beverly SuttonIt’s almost Spring and like most colleges students you want a break from classes and your online degree. Like most college students you probably don’t have much money. Yes, that cruise to Cancun would be nice, but you got student loans and bill to pay. Fortunately there are plenty of ways to have a more affordable spring break.
Three’s company. One or two people may spend a lot on lodging and gas etc. So cram in a couple of more people! This will really help to keep the costs lower. Yes, you might need to bring a sleeping bag to sleep on the hotel floor, but you are in college and it’s all about adventure.
Go to the grocery store. Food is one area that is easy to save money on it. By a cooler and fill it with some perishables, things like sandwich fillings, lunchables and drinks will go a long way. Do not go out to eat every night, instead take a picnic somewhere. If you can help it and you are going to a big tourist destination, do not go to the grocery stores there. They jack the prices up. Go to the one near your house before you leave.
Go visit a friend. So maybe you would rather go the beach but you have a good friend up in Colorado. Visiting a friend equals free lodging! It is a great way to save money and have a blast with an old friend. Besides, you are young and creative, you will find a way to have fun.
There are also plenty of places to go for fun. While it may be fun, you don’t have to go Costa Rica to enjoy your break. If you live anywhere in the South then the Gulf of Mexico has some great beaches. Florida would be the best spot to go, but if you can’t make it that far then there are others. If near Texas, head to Corpus Christi or Padre Island, as those are the only decent beaches in Texas. The West Coast has nice beaches but even as far south as Los Angeles the water can still be cold that time of year.
Spring Break can offer some great snowboarding opportunities. One advantage of going during Spring Break is that it is not nearly as cold as if you went earlier in the year. Some places, like New Mexico, will actually get warm down in the city itself. Of course Colorado is a great place to go. In California try Mammoth or even Tahoe. While the slopes aren’t as big, on the East coast the Appalachians have some fun slopes.
Of course you can always go to city like Vegas, New York or somewhere else equally as cool. So yeah, maybe you aren’t going to Europe this year, but there are plenty more places that you can go. It is what you make of it.
You will enjoy PhD online so much you won’t even want to go on Spring Break!
